I just realised how some people really feel Confident about something they do well at work. Well excuse me but I am not referring to Arrogance, yes some people can get through your nerves within minutes bragging about something they did so well. Now that’s a total turn off in all ways imagined. Speaking of Confidence, I remember just the other day my mum was having trouble balancing sheets at work, she called me and complained how difficult it was and nothing was balancing,she had to submit in an hours time. Luckily I knew that my mum was very good at what she does, one reason could be that “she had complete Passion ” for her job and in the morning she never hesitated to wake up.
You see even small things can trigger good things in you and your job, so I told her that she should come down and that she has done this all her life, you won’t imagine what she said! “She just laughed at me and said “do you think so? And I said definitely. And after a few minutes she called and said that she got it right, she asked me…funny neh…. How I knew she could do it; I just replied by saying, lol mum you know your job better than anyone I know you work with, you enjoy it and it gives you pleasure. After that call she knew that even I had believed in her without letting her know. Now all I can say is…she is Confident about herself even if someone asks for help she helps without hesitating. You see the lesson here is, if you lack low self-esteem there’s a high possibility you won’t make it, but trust in yourself and you’ll get there.
Back to reality, confidence is all about having faith in yourself, BUT without assuming that you’re the ONLY one who knows better. You can ask for help and still acknowledge that “NONE iS PERFECT” that’s the motto of a Confident person.
A few pointers to help your Confidence in your workplace:
Stop second-guessing yourself
Take notes of what you do well
Don’t ever , ever limit yourself
Don’t rub it into other peoples noses that you can do something better than them
Appreciate your faults and work to build them
Have a role model in your workplace, some to give you advice and lastly
Always be Positive!
Ya’all have to STOP being arrogant and insecure……work towards that promotion, be Bright and shiny, that’s all you need to be recognised!
